Product news: Setra Heartpine – new eco-friendly concept for outdoor living spaces made from wood

Just in time for Easter, Setra, Sweden’s largest wood products company, is launching a new concept for outdoor living spaces made from wood. The product is called Setra Heartpine and is an eco-friendly, 100% Swedish wooden material for patios and verandas. The concept includes outdoor decking, beams and panels – for a complete, eco-friendly outdoor living space made of wood.

The raw material used for Setra Heartpine is eco certified and is from high-quality pine that has been allowed to grow slowly in the Swedish forest. Heartpine is at least 90% heartwood, which is from the very heart of the log – the best part. Heartwood is rich in natural impregnating substances and therefore has built-in rot resistance. Modern laser technology is used to select the boards with the highest amount of heartwood.

“With our Heartpine concept we can offer the market a Swedish eco-friendly, high-quality wood for outdoor living spaces,” says Urban Torstenson, Market Manager at Setra. “Climate considerations are increasing the demand for eco-friendly and sustainable building materials, and heartpine is an excellent option.”

What is unique about Setra Heartpine is that it can be used 100% untreated because of its natural rot resistance. Over time, heartwood acquires a uniform, greyish tone which becomes even more attractive with age. If preferred, to preserve the wood’s light colour, heartwood should be washed and oiled at least once a year.

Heartpine can be used to build entire outdoor living spaces and is available in dimensions that are suitable for everything from beams and decking to steps and railings. The material should only be used above ground. The range includes a panel with the classic Waxholm profile. Setra Heartpine can be ordered from week 12 from Beijers building materials stores. Delivery time is approximately 2 weeks.
