Setra, Sweden’s largest wood products company, and Dalkia Industripartner AB, have concluded an agreement under which Dalkia will fund, build, operate and maintain a biofuel boiler to supply hot water to Setra’s sawmill in Skinnskatteberg. The new heating supply system represents a significant part of the total of SEK 60 million that Setra has now decided to invest in Skinnskatteberg.

The pine sawmill in Skinnskatteberg is a strategic production unit for Setra. It has a central geographic location in the Bergslagen district of Sweden and a key co-ordinating role in the production flow between Setra’s other facilities in the area. Access to a new heating supply will provide conditions for other essential production and quality enhancement investments at the sawmill. A decision has also recently been made to invest in extended drying capacity. Setra is investing a total of SEK 60 million in Skinnskatteberg.

Setra’s President and CEO Kent Torwald: “We want to focus on our core business which is sawing and processing wood products. With Dalkia Industripartner, Setra gains access to the leading European provider of energy services. We are also pleased to be able to contribute to the entry of a new player in the Swedish market that up until now has been dominated by just a few energy companies.”

Mikael Jansson, President of Dalkia Industripartner: “Dalkia Industripartner has an expressed strategy to grow within industrial energy supplies in Sweden and this assignment for Setra marks a very important step for us and for Swedish industry that will now have a wider choice.”
