Setra focuses on increased value added

Setra is placing its value-added processing operations in a new business area, Building Products & Systems. At the same time Bioproducts & Raw Material will become a new group function. Nils Clausén and Klas Flygare will be new faces in Setra’s group management.

In order to further strengthen the offering of processed wood products for construction and homes, Setra is creating a new business area, Building Products & Systems. This will be done by merging the operations in the subsidiary Plusshus with the present Processed Wood Products business area.

“A higher level of value-added processing is part of our future strategic direction and the change we are now carrying out will create conditions for exploiting and developing the benefits of our combined expertise within construction and homes. Setra will offer customer benefits by being the most effective supplier throughout the value chain from sawn and planed wood products to high-quality, prefabricated homes,” says Hannele Arvonen, President and CEO.

The new business area’s customer offering includes everything from building products - glulam, solid wood floors, claddings, etc. – to industrial building systems in wood. Production takes place at the processing units in Skutskär, Valbo and Långshyttan and at the modular building factories in Kristinehamn and Skellefteå. The merged business area Building Products & Systems will have annual sales of approximately SEK 700 million and 185 employees.

Sales of bioproducts such as chips, wood shavings and bark account for about 15% of Setra’s sales and are an important part of the Group’s total customer offering. This fact, combined with the significance of raw material purchasing for Setra’s total business, is the background to Bioproducts & Raw Material now becoming a group function.

“As competition for renewable wood fibre increases, Setra’s bioproducts business has grown in importance and therefore there is a need to make this clearly visible as a separate business,” says Hannele Arvonen.

Nils Clausén has been appointed as manager of the new business area Building Products & Systems; he is currently responsible for operations within Plusshus. Klas Flygare is appointed manager of Bioproducts & Raw Material. He currently has a similar responsibility within the Sawn Wood Products business area. Both will be new members of Setra’s group management.

Johan Johannesson, currently manager of the Processed Wood Products business area, will leave Setra in conjunction with the changed organisation.
