Setra is increasing its shareholding in the prefabricated building manufacturer Plusshus from 15% to 51%. For several years Setra and Plusshus have enjoyed a close and successful co operation, which is now to be deepened as part of the commercialisation of Trälyftet – Setra’s industrial building system for multistorey wooden buildings.

“Together with Plusshus we will increase our market share in the growing market for wooden multistorey houses,” says Kent Torwald, President and CEO of Setra. “Setra has a unique building system for multistorey wooden buildings. Plusshus has expertise in industrial prefabricated buildings. Together we can offer an environmentally sustainable concept for house building. Climate aspects in particular suggest that in future we will see increased building in wood, which is a renewable material.”

Plusshus makes and sells prefabricated building units and modules from factories in Arvidsjaur and Kristinehamn. Its main markets are Sweden and Norway. The company, which has doubled its sales to approximately SEK 150 million over a three-year period, has around 90 employees.

“Our market is growing and I look forward to continuing to develop Plusshus with Setra as a committed owner,” says Ulf Haglind, Managing Director of Plusshus. “Together we will be a stronger, clearer player in the market.”

The company will change its name to Setra Plusshus AB and join Setra’s Building Systems division, which already produces and sells glulam and has developed Trälyftet, Setra’s industrial building system for multistorey wooden buildings. Among other things, Plusshus will be responsible for the marketing and production of the Trälyftet building system, which is now entering a commercialisation phase.

Setra already had a 15% shareholding in Plusshus and will increase its stake through a combination of share purchases and a new rights issue, taking its shareholding to 51%. The other shareholders are four private individuals who are active within the company in various ways.
