Setra has decided to invest in a new sawmill infeed system and a new progressive kiln at Kastet sawmill in Gävle. The new technology is expected to be in place during 2016.

The investment in a new sawmill infeed system at Setra Kastet will guarantee Kastet’s current production level and at the same time allow a continued good development of these operations.

“This investment in Setra Kastet is intended to further improve efficiency at a high-performing unit and at the same time strengthen Setra’s long-term competitiveness,” says Jonas Björnståhl, head of the Sawn Wood Products business area.

In parallel with the investment in a new sawmill infeed system, a new progressive kiln will also be installed at the unit. The new kiln will connect to a rail system which will further improve operational efficiency. The investment project is expected to be completed and in operation during 2016.

“Employee commitment has resulted in positive growth and these investments will provide us with good opportunities to continue this journey. We are naturally very pleased to have been entrusted to further develop our unit and we see a bright future,” says Ove Sjögren, Mill Manager, Setra Kastet.

Setra Group has a total of nine sawmills, three processing units and two modular building factories.
