Setra, Sweden’s largest wood products company, has decided to invest approximately SEK 220 million in its Hasselfors sawmill in the Swedish municipality of Laxå. The investment programme mainly comprises a new, integrated planing unit, as well as modernisation of existing saw lines.

Kent Torwald, President and CEO of Setra “This investment will guarantee our long-term competitiveness for processed whitewood products. With a broader range of planed wood products, we will strengthen our market position in the growing building trade customer segment in Scandinavia and in our key export markets, primarily the UK.

“Combined with our recent investments at Heby sawmill and Långshyttan’s glulam factory this will give Setra a cluster of modern and efficient processing units for whitewood products in central Sweden,” says Kent Torwald.

As a result of this investment, 100% of sawn volume in Hasselfors will be further processed and the total proportion of value-added processed products for the Group will increase by more than 10 percentage points.

Hasselfors sawmill is in the Swedish municipality of Laxå and has some 110 employees. Hasselfors is Setra’s largest sawmill with annual production in excess of 300,000 cubic metres of sawn timber.
