January 11, 2013 (Providence, RI) – Dennis Rebelo, President of Alex and Ani University Professional Development Center, LLC (AAU) and Giovanni Feroce, Chief Executive Officer of Alex and Ani will stimulate dialogue about “Peak Storytelling” and the leader’s changing role as primary storyteller at the TEDxPublic Street event this month. Feroce will also share his “Reality Management” philosophy, which drives the executive communication strategies and daily operations of Alex and Ani, recently named the 13th fastest growing retailer in North America by INC Magazine.

The independently organized TEDx event will take place January 20th at the MET School, located at 325 Public Street in Providence. The theme for this event is “Ideas Revisited” and features speakers sharing how they have been working in their respective fields to reshape the world and how they see the world in the coming years.

“This TEDx event hits New England at the right time – a time when organizational leaders need to rethink what it means to be human at work,” said Rebelo.

Rebelo’s evolving research focuses on how to create conscious storytelling organizations.  At the upcoming TEDx event, he will be sharing the storytelling model that leaders can use to begin transforming their organizations into storytelling cultures where employees are more apt to experience happiness and engagement. This model is a central one used to guide culture creation at Alex and Ani through storytelling.

“This TEDx will be serving as a special preview of Mr. Feroce’s ‘Reality Management’ course at AAU,” added Rebelo.  “Given the state of hyper-competition in most business sectors, Mr. Feroce’s philosophies cut through formalities making sensible adjustment to how we run companies today.  At a time when most organizations need to be managing from a grounded reality perspective, we are delighted to share these philosophies.”

In his capacity as president, Rebelo ensures that workshops, learning journeys, and courses offered by Alex and Ani are birthed to awaken, nurture, and inspire human development through self-understanding and systems thinking.  The campus is located at 159 Weybosset Street in Downtown Providence.

TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out in 1984 as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, and Design. Since then, its scope has broadened. Along with two annual conferences - the TED Conference in Long Beach and Palm Springs each spring, and the TEDGlobal conference in Edinburgh UK each summer - TED includes the award-winning TED Talks video site, the Open Translation Project and TED Conversations, the inspiring TED Fellows and TEDx programs, and the annual TED Prize. TEDx events are fully planned and coordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis.

The event is open to the public, but space is limited.  Tickets are available for $30 and may be purchased through AAU’s website: www.alexandaniuniversity.com. On-site registration will begin at 12:00 p.m. The program includes three 80-minute sessions starting at 1:00 p.m., separated by 20-minute breaks, and will conclude with a reception at 5:50 p.m.
