National contractor Shaylor Group is delighted to have smashed its target of £10,000 to donate to their chosen charity for 2014, Beating Bowel Cancer.

Beating Bowel Cancer is a cause close to the hearts of Shaylor Group as their founder and Chairman Fred Shaylor lost his fight against the disease in 2013. As a result, the entire company whole heartedly threw themselves behind fundraising for their chosen charity which led to a magnificent total of £22,671 being raised in under 12 months.

On Wednesday 19th November Stephen Shaylor, CEO of Shaylor Group, presented a cheque for £22,671 to Theo Coyne from Beating Bowel Cancer at the company’s Aldridge Head Quarters offices. The funds were raised from a wide number of initiatives including teams participating in the London Virgin Triathlon and the Wolf Run, the Fred Shaylor Golf Classic and Decembeard.

Mr Shaylor commented “Obviously Beating Bowel Cancer is a cause very close to our hearts which is reflected in the magnificent sum we have raised as a company. Our big hearted staff and supply chain partners have worked tirelessly taking part in events and running competitions to raise the funds. In addition to the money, I personally hope we have played a part in raising awareness of this all too common disease”.

On behalf of Beating Bowel Cancer, Theo Coyne added 'It has been a truly magnificent fundraising effort by all the team at Shaylor Group, more than doubling their initial target. Whilst the last year and a half must have been tremendously hard for everyone, it was evident from day one that they were going to use this experience as motivation in all their activities. The amount raised will help them to support people with bowel cancer and their families and to raise awareness of the disease, its symptoms and the need for early diagnosis. If anyone has concerns about bowel cancer they should visit our website www.beatingbowelcancer.org”.
