Topaz Commissions PSM to Install New Tank Gauging System on the Mamlaka
PSM Instrumentation have supplied a tank gauging system for the Topaz Mamlaka, a 63 metre tug supply vessel. The installation was carried out as part of a series of system enhancements for Topaz Energy and Marine, a leading offshore support owner and operator.
Mamlaka, which means ‘Kingdom’ in Arabic, was a new build tug for Topaz by the Berjaya Dockyard in Sarawak, Malaysia. Before it could be deployed in the Gulf, various vessel modifications and upgrades were required. Subsequently, Topaz approached PSM, as marine specialists with experience in offshore applications. to supply the tank gauging system.
With the vessel required for imminent service, a short lead time was essential. PSM manufactured the system quickly, then working with a local partner in Dubai to undertake the commissioning.
PSM offered full support throughout the design process to optimise the installation and to keep the need for vessel modifications to a minimum. The tank gauging system employs digital networked sensors, meaning the system benefitted from reduced cabling needs.
