Huginn Commissions PSM to Install New Tank Gauging System
When Vessel Huginn in Iceland required a complete upgrade of their fishing vessel’s tank gauging system they approached PSM. Working closely with local agent Akor, PSM developed a solution that minimised tank entry, reusing as much of their existing hardware as possible.
Having installed a TankView system and hydrostatic ICT sensors some years previously, PSM was able to provide a cost-effective upgrade, based on expanding the current system to cover RSW, fuel oil, freshwater waste and service tanks.
The system was supplied fully configured, enabling the Chief Engineer to install and commission the vessel quickly to enable the vessel to be brought back into service in the fastest possible time. Additional display and functional requirements which emerged during the design and installation process were also managed during the same timeframe.
The installation included ten ICT 1000 transmitters for RSW tanks and a complete BMS4 electro-pneumatic system for all other tanks all connected to PSM’s TankView central display with repeater. In addition, we also developed and included a serial output which provided tank and alarm status to the existing central alarm monitoring system.
