Ease of integration and flexible configuration are key when it comes to integrating displays into products and systems, according to leading supplier Messagemaker Displays.

LED displays are increasingly becoming the technology of choice for integrators and OEM’s seeking a cost-effective high-impact solution, with Messagemaker leading the field in the supply of single line LED’s for an ever-more diverse range of applications.

Single line LED displays are ideal for messaging and signs showing mainly text or simple images. Offering up to twenty times the brightness of other screen technologies and with an estimated life of at least eleven years in continual use, LED is a relatively low cost option when evaluated on a whole life basis.

Ease of programming and flexibility in design and configuration make Messagemaker’s LED displays a popular choice for companies looking for an adaptable control solution that can be incorporated easily into their own systems and products.

The LED displays are managed via a PC or PLC. Developer integration software is supplied with the system which allows precise configuration to suit individual requirements. Displays can be programmed to automatically relay messages and updates in real-time. The robust construction of the LED displays has been developed to withstand the harshest of operating environments, from swimming pools to chemical processing and marine applications.

Also key is the technical backup and speed of response which Messagemaker is able to offer.

“As specialist suppliers, we are able to supply displays to meet a wide range of specifications from small signs to large formats that are visible over long distances, to include bespoke requirements.” comments Harry Filer, Messagemaker Managing Director.

One company which uses Message maker’s LED displays is Charger Bay Solutions Ltd a specialist in forklift and electric vehicle battery care and management.

In addition to deionised water production equipment, automatic battery topping systems and chargers, Charger Bay Solutions manufacture the CBS Battery Allocation System (BAS) which is used to manage fork lift battery fleets where batteries are changed on the trucks and charged in racks to allow 24/7 operation of the truck fleet.

The BAS system which monitors the battery chargers and works on a FCFO (First Charged First Out) basis incorporates Messagemaker LED displays to notify the truck driver which battery should be taken for use next.

If no charged batteries are available, the system reverts to FIFO (First In First Out) operation. This two-tier method ensures that all batteries get used equally and if that if no fully charged batteries are available, the battery with the most power is allocated for use.

The tri-colour LED that CBS uses shows charged batteries in green, batteries that are nearly ready in yellow and batteries that are still charging in red. In addition to allocating the battery to be taken, the LED also shows in red the number of active alarms and the location of the faulty chargers.

Phil Wiseman, Managing Director at Charger Bay Solutions, adds: “In 2009 when the BAS system was being developed, we looked for a supplier of LED displays who had the product to meet our requirements and could give technical support to help us integrate the product into our own system.

“Messagemaker were able to fulfil both of these important requirements and over the 6 years we have been dealing with them, we have found both sales and technical support to be excellent.”

Available in single- or tri-colour options with a range of font sizes, Messagemaker LED single line displays are widely used not only for production and control purposes but also by Chubb for its nurse call systems, Stanley Security in prison service applications and Park Assist in its car park management systems, to name but a few.
