ADDING UP THE YEARS

A gem from the Spalding branch of Duncan and Toplis – Catherine Smith – has received a ruby and gold pin badge to celebrate 40 years with the firm.

The East Midlands based firm of chartered accountants marked the milestone by taking Catherine Smith to the Crown Hotel in Stamford for a celebratory lunch along with three other colleagues celebrating the same milestone - Managing Partner Peter Townsend and Barbara Armstrong from the Grantham office as well as Dennis Lowe from the Melton Mowbray office.

Duncan and Toplis Deputy Managing Partner Adrian Reynolds said he was delighted to be celebrating these achievements.

“The firm prides itself on maintaining employee satisfaction, and the fact that we have four colleagues who have grown with the firm during the past four decades is testament to our success in this area,” he said.

When Catherine Smith first began working for Duncan and Toplis 40 years ago things were very different. Instead of computers and calculators staff used analysis machines and manual ledgers. Catherine said the main reason she stayed for 40 years with Duncan & Toplis was that she simply enjoyed it.

“I have enjoyed the assignments given, the variety in the type of work and the colleagues – too many to recall. With Duncan & Toplis I always felt I was a valued member of staff and not just a number,” she said.
