Amid positive signs for the UK economy an event is being staged in Lincoln this month that will give advice and support for business owners looking to grow.

Building a Better Business – to be held at The Showroom in Lincoln on 20th November 2013 – will feature business speakers from across Lincolnshire who will share their tips and knowhow.

The event, which is in its second year, will provide nine seminars and workshops that busy delegates can easily drop in and out of, meaning they won’t have to spend the entire day away from their business.

Topics covered will include:

  • PR on a Budget
  • Planning for Profit
  • New Laws to Solve Employers' Problems
  • Plan Today, Succeed Tomorrow
  • Top Tips for Email Marketing
  • Experiencing Inspirational Customer Service
  • Using Social Media to Benefit Your Business
  • Creative Thinking and Problem Solving
  • Employment Law Essentials

“We are seeing positive signs in the economy and businesses are enjoying increased activity and improved trading conditions,” said James Pinchbeck of Streets Chartered Accountants.

“Building a Better Business aims to support  businesses as they seek to capitalise on these positive signs and trends, with speakers providing useful insights into managing the challenges of ensuring profitable growth, recruiting and retaining staff and embracing the latest in digital marketing and social media.”

Over 100 business people attended last year’s event, one of whom was Vee Ridgley of VR Designs in Grantham.

“I have booked again this year because last year the event was so useful to me,” said Vee.

“It was the perfect combination of learning new things while meeting new people, both of which are essential for small businesses like mine.”

Another firm represented at last year’s event was Andy Wilson Financial Services in North Hykeham.

As a small husband-and-wife financial services team we felt the event was very useful for those, like us, in the early stages of their business,” said Andy.

“In particular the sessions devoted to PR on a budget and social media gave us a great insight into what we could and should be considering for our business to harness the often free resources available.”

Building a Better Business is organised by the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce and supported by Lincolnshire County Council, Streets Chartered Accountants, Ruddocks, Shooting Star PR and the University of Lincoln.

The guest speaker on the day will be Chris Illsey, co-founder of Running Imp, a Lincoln-based sports equipment specialist and winner of Large Business of the Year 2013 at the Lincolnshire Media Business Awards.

The event will take place between 9.15am and 3.30pm at The Showroom in Lincoln on Wednesday 20th November 2013.

Those attending all day can select two morning seminars and two afternoon seminars and will be offered a complimentary lunch.

Social media users are encouraged to keep up to date with the business conference using the Twitter hash tag #LincsBBB13.
