Wyboston Lakes is celebrating British Food Fortnight with an array of delicious British dishes on offer. British Food Fortnight which runs from 17th September to 2nd October takes place during Harvest Festival - the traditional time for giving thanks – and celebrates the varied and tasty range of food that Britain produces.

The special menu at the Waterfront Restaurant & Bar includes leek, potato and Cambridge blue cheese soup with potato croutons or Cromer crab cakes with Bedfordshire cucumber relish to start.

Main course options consist of the Blythburgh free range pork plate which includes braised belly of pork and apricot boudin, sage and parsley stuffed fillet of pork with fen greens, carrots and natural jus; or suprême of Loomswood Farm Suffolk duck with braised red cabbage, fondant potato and red wine jus.

Cambridge burnt cream with saffron shortbread and Bramley apple crumble (made using Denham Farm Estate apple juice) with home-made ice cream are the tempting treats on the dessert menu.

If you’re looking for something a little less formal, Denham Farm Estate venison burger with beetroot relish and chips or Bedfordshire sausages with mashed potato and onion gravy are available all day from the popular lounge menu. And what better way to finish off a meal than with English berry sundae with meringue and cream?

Diners can make a night of it and be assured of enjoying a relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings at Wyboston Lakes Hotel which has recently been re-awarded with the seal of approval in its latest AA assessment.

The Bedfordshire hotel achieved a merit score of 80% after a recent visit by AA inspectors – up seven points on last year’s rating and higher than the national average – and the Waterfront Restaurant & Bar has again been awarded the coveted AA Rosette for culinary excellence.

The inspectors highlighted overall cleanliness of the hotel, the quality of the food and the appearance of public areas. They also praised the hotel for marked improvements in facilities such as the dining room.

“I am overjoyed with the results of the report,” said Alasdair Swan, General Manager. “They reflect a fantastic effort from all the staff here at Wyboston Lakes Hotel who are determined to maintain the high standards we have become renowned for. Improvements have been made on last year’s score and we will continue to get better year upon year.

“Guests can come and enjoy the fantastic ‘Taste of East Anglia’ menu we have on offer to celebrate British Food Fortnight over the coming fortnight and make an evening of it by enjoying an overnight stay at our hotel!”

The AA scores are based on nine key factors including cleanliness, service, bedrooms, bathrooms, food, hospitality, the exterior, public areas and dining rooms. Wyboston Lakes Hotel’s best scores were awarded for the appearance of public areas (77%), overall cleanliness (76%) and the quality of food (75% – up five points on last year).

Wyboston Lakes Hotel, located near St Neots on the border of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, is set in 350 acres of rural countryside and alongside the banks of the River Great Ouse. The hotel offers free parking, complimentary wi-fi, an 18-hole golf course and leisure facilities.
