Age UK Lincoln’s Park Street Activity Centre will partially re-open this week as a £700,000 refurbishment project nears its end.

The restaurant at the popular centre will be open to the public from Wednesday 6th November, but more donations are needed before the renovation and extension work is complete.

That’s why the charity is launching its Pledge for Park Street campaign to encourage local businesses, organisations and individuals to donate much needed items.

The centre still requires chairs, office furniture, toilets, a new boiler, kitchen utensils, crockery window blinds, whiteboards, large screen TVs, conferencing equipment and 40 square tablecloths (54 square inches).

The campaign launches today (Monday) and all those who respond by making a donation will be rewarded by having the name of their business or organisation recorded on a commemorative plaque or in a special donation book which will be kept in the building.

“Building work on the new centre is going really well and we’re on target to have the whole centre open again by the scheduled date of 13th December,” said Centre Manager Rosie Davidson.

“But we desperately need local businesses and organisations to dig deep and help us to properly equip the centre so that we can provide the best possible experience for the many people who use it every week.”

Building work on the three-story extension and modernisation began in June and activities in the centre have continued as normal while work is being carried out by Lindum Construction.

Every week the charity’s centre welcomes over 1,800 customers through its doors for classes, friendship clubs, socialising and for advice on day-to-day or specialist issues. The centre also has its own subsidised restaurant, hairdressers and computer suite.

When the refurbishment and extension are complete head office staff will move into Park Street from their existing offices on Sixfield Close.

If you can support the Pledge for Park Street campaign and would like to donate much needed items please contact Georgina Garrett on 01522 696000 or email georgina.garrett@ageuklincoln.org.uk.

Reporters and photographers are welcome to attend the Park Street Activity Centre, LN1 1UQ, on Wednesday 6th November where a photo opportunity will be organised on request. To arrange a visit please call Jez Ashberry at Shooting Star PR on 01522 528540.
