News release
17th May 2011
Ladies who lunch can help in the fight against cancer and enjoy a delicious three-course meal at the same time!
Cancer research charity Candles is staging a Ladies’ Luncheon at Branston Hall Hotel on Friday 17th June.
Dishes on the menu for the three-course lunch include roast tomato soup with lemon feta and crushed coriander, braised lamb shanks with roasted root vegetables, rosemary and caper sauce and clafoutis of Kirsch-soaked cherries with clotted cream for dessert. A vegetarian option is also available.
Coffee and mints will finish the meal and wine will be supplied on the table.
Guests will be entertained at the event by Angela Vallance and her singing group.
Candles is a fund-raising charity for cancer research founded in 2001 by Pam Connock and Dyllys Firth from Skellingthorpe after they underwent treatment for the disease.
The charity fund-raises for Professor Oleg Eremin, based at Lincoln County Hospital, and his research into immunotherapy – an alternative cancer treatment that uses the body’s immune system to fight disease rather than treatments such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
Pam Connock, MBE, said: "The Ladies’ Luncheon is a great opportunity for women to get together and enjoy good food and music and contribute to a very important cause.
“We’re looking forward to what promises to be a lovely day and hope to continue to raise awareness of the vital research being conducted by Professor Eremin.”
Tickets cost £27 per person and all proceeds go to Candles. Guests should arrive between 11.30am and 12 noon for the lunch.
