CELEBRATING 10 YEARS OF CANCER RESEARCH
News release
2nd November 2011
Lincoln charity Candles, which has raised over £600,000 for cancer research, is celebrating its 10th anniversary next month with a lavish ball at the Bentley Hotel in South Hykeham.
The black tie event on Saturday 12th November includes a wine reception, three-course meal, live music by The North, a disco and a raffle.
Candles is a fundraising charity for cancer research founded in 2001 by Pam Connock and Dyllys Firth from Skellingthorpe after they underwent treatment for the disease.
The charity fundraises for Professor Oleg Eremin, based at Lincoln County Hospital, and his research into immunotherapy – an alternative cancer treatment that uses the body’s immune system to fight disease rather than treatments such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
Pam Connock, MBE, said: “We’re proud to be celebrating our 10th anniversary this year and all of the hard work, dedication and support we have received in that time.
“We hope that the anniversary ball will generate as much interest as other events have in the past as we look forward to continuing to raise vital funds for cancer research in the future.”
Dishes on the menu for the evening include cream of mushroom and sherry soup, blade of beef in a peppercorn and brandy sauce, raspberry pavlova with raspberry coulis or a cheese board, coffee and after-dinner mints.
The event starts at 6.30pm and tickets for the evening cost £43. For more information about the event or to donate a raffle prize please contact Sara on 01522 690698 or Corinne on 01522 685670.
