Charity Golf Day Raises Thousands For Strut
News Release
7th July 2011
Lincoln estate agency Mundys broke all records at its annual charity golf day by raising over £4,000 for KIDS Strut!
The highest ever number of teams entered the annual event at Blankney Golf Club which raised £4,220 for the children’s charity – beating last year’s total of £4,000.
KIDS Strut, formerly known as Strut in the Community, is a charity that supports local children with disabilities and their families.
Melanie Parsons, Assistant Director of KIDS Strut, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Mundys managed to raise so much money at their golf day and it was great to see so many people taking part.
“Donations are vital for the future of our charity and the work we do supporting local disabled children and their families. It’s promising that even in such difficult financial times people are so generous and Mundys have been able to beat the amount raised last year.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part and to the staff at Mundys who put so much effort into organising such a fantastic event.”
The winning men’s team on the day were the Lincoln City Sufferers and the Pro Shop Babes took first place for the ladies out of a record 36 teams that entered.
Internationally renowned trick golf show maestro David Edwards, who set the record at the Scottish Golf Show by hitting 312 golf balls in three minutes, entertained crowds at the event with a show involving his trademark ‘scissor shots’ and use of original clubs including one made from hose pipe, another from a cricket bat and a third from a fishing rod!
Michael Bentley from Anthony Clark Solicitors in Lincoln was the lucky winner of 2012 Olympic tickets with overnight accommodation in the charity raffle.
Mundy’s Senior Partner Philip Barnatt said they were glad to have raised such a significant amount for the charity.
“It’s fantastic that we’ve managed to beat last year’s total for Strut,” said Philip. “Everyone who took part in the golf day had a brilliant time and really enjoyed themselves which was our main aim.
“It was great having David Edwards at the event entertaining guests and we had an amazing first prize for the raffle and some very generous donations for the auction. We’re particularly grateful to our main sponsor for the day Danwoods who have supported us every year.
“It’s terrific to see all of the effort that went in to organising the event pay off. The money we raised is going to a charity which makes a real difference to so many families’ lives in Lincoln and we’re very grateful to everyone who supported us on the day.”
Mundys Charity Golf Day has been running for the last six years and in that time has raised over £20,000 for charity.
