Co-operative Working for Lincolnshire Signmaker
News release
19th December 2012
Allen Signs has helped brand a new community store opened by the Lincolnshire Co-operative.
The society employed the award-winning sign making and livery specialists to install all interior and exterior signs at a new £1.3 million shop in Burgh Le Marsh, near Skegness.
Work at the 3,000 square foot food store included a five-metre fabricated and painted free-standing aluminium totem sign complemented by fabricated aluminium fascia and apex signs.
Internally there are signs highlighting different food sections, general health and safety signs, the Lincolnshire Co-operative brand and window displays. Glen Merryweather, Sales and Marketing Executive at Allen Signs based at North Hykeham near Lincoln, said he was glad to secure a large contract with the Lincolnshire Co-operative, having previously worked with the society on smaller projects.
“We’ve previously worked with the Lincolnshire Co-operative at the Lincolnshire Show and re-branded the delicatessen counters in several stores, but we hadn’t secured a complete sign project for a new store before,” explained Glen.
“We reviewed the technical drawings provided to establish their requirements and then visited local stores to assess the signage already in place. We made sure we used local suppliers where possible to provide a high-quality product at the right price.”
A combination of shaped PVC sign panels with vinyl application window displays and an acrylic plaque commemorating the opening were installed inside the store within 24 hours to fit in with the development schedule. Additional signs were then produced and fitted within 48 hours.
“We wanted to ensure that we offered the highest level of service to the Lincolnshire Co-operative throughout the project, providing solutions and responding quickly to their requests so that the site was completed as quickly as possible with minimal disruption,” Glen added.
“We are very happy to be working with a local business that provides so much to local communities. Hopefully we can continue to develop that relationship and we look forward to providing our services in the future.”
The new store has created 12 new jobs and stocks a wide range of goods from essential groceries to local products like Bateman’s beer, brewed in Wainfleet, and Lymn Bank Cheddar, made in Thorpe St Peter.
The outlet in Burgh Le Marsh is Lincolnshire Co-operative’s 75th food store. Store Development Manager Matthew Wilkinson said: “Signage plays a crucial role in retail, from letting the customer know where we are and when we are open to signposting around the store.
“We chose Allen Signs because of the quality of work, their collaborative approach and prompt service. The signage at Burgh Le Marsh is testament to their service and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”
