IT company Datcom is to sponsor a Technology Showcase at the recently-opened Enterprise Zone at Boston College.

Datcom, which is a sister company of leading accountancy firm Duncan & Toplis, is supporting the event on 30th October aimed at highlighting the opportunities available and the skills needed for a successful career in the technology and engineering sectors.

The Technology Showcase between 10am and 3pm in the College’s new £1.6 million Enterprise Zone will be open to students, parents and teachers from across the county.  Run by the College in partnership with a number of regional businesses, it will include a combination of machinery displays and short seminars to demonstrate how technology and engineering underpins the success of businesses across a range of sectors.

Andy Maddison, Business Development Manager at Datcom, which has offices in Grantham and Lincoln, said: “As an IT company, we understand how important technology can be, so this seemed the perfect event for us to participate in.

“This showcase will help to capture the interest and attention of young people at a stage when they are thinking of their career choices, and there is a wealth of exceptional businesses attending to do just that.”

Datcom will also be exhibiting at the event along with BAE Systems, Burdens, Turners Distribution, GB Security Group, Rolec Services, and QV Foods. As well as machinery, the displays will include some interactive activities and video demonstrations whilst the short seminars will be a chance for the businesses to tell their story directly to the College’s students as well as visiting students and guests.

The showcase will also see the launch of the latest onlincolnshire Technology Hub, which offers cutting-edge equipment to local businesses.

Speaking about the event, Employer Engagement Manager at Boston College, George Bell said: “Visitors to the showcase should be prepared to be surprised – in a good way - by what goes on in and around Boston and Spalding.

“More importantly College students will see what it takes to forge some brilliant careers with forward thinking companies. It also dovetails perfectly with the new Technology Hub – which is another exciting link between education and business.”

People are free to drop in throughout the day, although they are encouraged to register ahead of the event if they wish to attend to official opening of the onlincolnshire Technology Hub at 1pm. Email your details to George Bell at the College on george-b@boston.ac.uk.
