DOUBLETREE BY HILTON TO OPEN LINCOLN’S FIRST-EVER POP-UP RESTAURANT
LINCOLN, UK – 3rd November 2011 – Foodies are in for a gastronomical treat next month as the pop-up restaurant phenomenon which has been sweeping the globe comes to Lincoln!
The Electric Bar & Restaurant, which is due to open at DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln later this year, will be taking over the kitchens at Sessions Restaurant on the Lincoln College campus for two nights only.
Head Chef Alec Maxfield, who has worked at some of the best restaurants in the UK, including the two Michelin star Hambleton Hall in Rutland and The Fat Duck in Bray, will be impressing guests with his culinary skills on Monday 21stand Tuesday 22nd November.
Alec will prepare a mouth-watering three-course menu using the best Lincolnshire produce for 80 invited guests over the two days.
Guests will be invited to make a voluntary donation and all the money raised on the nights will go to initiatives that benefit Lincoln College students.
As well as running the pop-up restaurant over the two days, Alec and Restaurant Consultant Dan Ralley will be delivering catering and hospitality workshops for students at the college.
Richard Farrar, one of the directors of Brayford Hotels – the company behind the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln development – said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Lincoln College and looking forward to forging a mutually-beneficial relationship with the staff and students, particularly on the catering and hospitality courses.
“Alec Maxfield is a really exciting and accomplished chef and we’re delighted to be bringing him to the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln as Head Chef of The Electric Bar & Restaurant. Whilst we are just putting the finishing touches on the hotel we wanted to give people a taste of the exceptional standard of food they can expect when it opens later this year.
“The pop-up restaurant phenomenon has been taking the world by storm and we thought this would be a great way of bringing it to Lincoln and showcasing Alec’s outstanding modern British cuisine at the same time.
“Lincoln College kindly agreed to let us use Sessions Restaurant as a temporary kitchen and their students will be working with Alec and the team on the night which will give them a valuable insight into how a professional restaurant is run.”
Sue van Zyl, Director of the School of Business, Lincoln College added: “We are delighted to be involved in such an exciting event. Working alongside such a remarkable chef is sure to inspire our students - absolutely an experience of a lifetime.
“Lincoln College enjoys many successful relationships with local employers and hopes the event marks the start of a successful relationship with DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln.”
Although attendance at the pop-up restaurant will be by invitation only, DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln will be giving its Twitter followers and Facebook fans the chance to win tickets. Follow @doubletreelinc on Twitter or like DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln on Facebook for competition details.
When it opens later this year, The Electric Bar & Restaurant at DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln will offer a unique dining experience.
A panoramic glass lift, which will create a stunning feature on the front of the hotel facing the Brayford Pool, will take diners directly up to the restaurant on the fifth floor where they’ll be able to enjoy contemporary modern British cuisine in stylish surroundings with spectacular views across the city.
