21st June 2012

Children throughout Derbyshire can enjoy the health benefits of fresh chilled milk delivered to their classroom thanks to the introduction of a new school milk scheme.

To celebrate school milk, Dr Hilary Jones GP, Breakfast TV Health Editor and Medical Advisor to Cool Milk, will be visiting St Mary’s Catholic Primary School and Tintwistle C of E Primary School in Glossop on Tuesday (26th June) to talk to the children about the benefits of drinking school milk.

Special assemblies will be held at each school and Dr Hilary will also have the chance to visit the children in their classrooms to see what they have learnt about milk.

Dr Hilary Jones said: “Milk is a great source of both protein and calcium, and it is important that children have access to such a wholesome and nutritional product whilst they are still growing and developing.”

The day was arranged by Cool Milk, which runs school milk schemes on behalf of schools in the UK. Cool Milk deal with the administration, paperwork claims and deliveries so school teaching staff can get on with the most important task – teaching.
