Engineering the Future in Lincolnshire

The manager of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP has spoken about the benefits of doing business in the area at a major engineering show.
Thousands of industry specialists attended the Advanced Engineering Show at the NEC where Ruth Carver presented a talk which highlighted what Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire offer as an engineering and manufacturing hub to help boost the sector.
The event was held at the NEC yesterday (Wednesday 13th November) and Tuesday, with Ruth’s talk taking place on the first day. As well as giving a talk, LEP representatives also exhibited over both show days, with hundreds of businesses stopping by to find out more about what the area has to offer.
Ruth said: “Our engineering heritage is firmly established and we now want to shout about what opportunities there are for other businesses involved in the sector to thrive across Greater Lincolnshire.
“This event gave us the chance to highlight how those in the sector could benefit from reduced operating costs, a thriving skills pool and an established supply chain. I’m very pleased with how many businesses we’ve had the chance to speak to and there are some potential leads already on the horizon.”
The Greater Lincolnshire LEP is a private and public sector-led organisation which works to improve infrastructure and the conditions for doing business. The LEP was joined by the University of Lincoln’s School of Engineering, which took a laser machine to demonstrate how the school works collaboratively with businesses, as well as Teal Park, a new development on the outskirts of Lincoln which now houses a newly built Siemens gas turbine servicing facility.
The show overall housed 600 exhibitors and featured more than 160 technical presentations across five speaker auditoriums, as well as more than 180 free expert technology presentations.
