Staff at an Oxfordshire nursery are celebrating after one of their colleagues was shortlisted for a National Day Nurseries Association award.

Lynda Bon works at The Old Station Nursery in Filkins near Lechlade and is one of only three candidates in the country up for the Nursery Practitioner of the Year 2011 prize.

The NDNA awards are open to all nurseries across the UK and are the only nursery awards voted for by parents.

For the category of Nursery Practitioner of the Year parents were asked to nominate a nursery professional who was an outstanding individual who “has gone that extra mile and shown true dedication and commitment to caring for children.”

“Lynda has worked at Filkins Nursery for more than 11 years and truly deserves this recognition from parents for all her hard work and commitment in her role,” said Louise Jenkins, manager of The Old Station Nursery in Filkins.

“We are all very proud of her and wish her luck at the award ceremony in June.”

Lynda will attend an interview with the board on 12th May where she will be judged on her dedication and commitment to caring for children.

The winners will be announced at the NDNA Nursery Awards Dinner, supported by Christie & Co, on 9th June 2011 at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

The candidate named Nursery Practitioner of the Year will win £200 worth of spa vouchers and £200 cash for his or her nursery to spend on resources.
