News release

23rd April 2013

Two friends will open a bridal boutique in rural Lincolnshire after deciding it was time to follow their dreams.

Rachael Scott and Gemma Clarke are set to launch The Bridal Lounge Highgate at Scredington, near Sleaford, offering a luxurious setting where brides can buy gowns from designers not readily available locally.

Mum-of-two Rachael will leave a full-time job to focus on the business while Gemma, also a mum, will support Rachael in running the business as well as generating creative ideas to offer brides a unique experience.

The boutique is being set up in converted barn which is currently undergoing a £6,000 make-over.

Rachael said: “It has been a dream of mine for many years to open a bridal boutique so this is a very exciting time for me. I know it can be difficult to launch your own business, especially in this climate, but we’ve worked hard to put a good plan in place and I feel we’re bringing something new to the area which will really appeal to brides-to-be.

“For me, it was about creating an environment that will make brides feel special and excited about finding their dress the moment they walk through the door. Someone close to me had gone through a very poor experience when buying her dress and I knew that a good service would be something we could offer.”

The Bridal Lounge is due to open in the summer, but they’ve already started booking in appointments. Once completed, the converted barns will boast a large changing area, hand-made cabinets displaying jewellery and shoes and floor-to-ceiling mirrors. Friends and family will also have a seating area, and an enclosed courtyard will offer space in warmer months to relax while the all-important dress decision is being made!

The pair already run G&R Wedding Planners, and have worked for clients as far away as Canada. Rachel also runs a sweet cart hire business. Gemma said: “We have a strong background in the wedding industry and this felt like the next natural step for us to take. We’re thrilled to be launching our own boutique and we’re confident that our experience and passion will make every bride feel special.

“We’re pleased to have been able to work with local builders and designers to not only create the perfect setting, but also help support the local workforce.”

Gowns stocked will range between £650 and £1,500. Designers available are Stella York, Beautiful by Enzoani, Blue by Enzoani and Mark Lesley Bridal, while shoes and bags are by Paradox. Jewellery and tiaras are by Halo & Co and Twilight Designs, while bridesmaid dresses from Sorella Vita will also be available at the barns.
