News release

18th October 2013

The next generation in smart devices, which is not yet available to the general public, will be on display at LincUpLive thanks to a speaker jetting in from Silicon Valley.

Keynote speaker Redg Snodgrass is bringing a Google Glass, a product almost all visitors to the event will not have seen in person. Google Glass is a wearable device activated by voice commands which allows users to carry out tasks like take photographs, record videos, view directions and translate your voice – all while keeping your hands free.

Redg is the founder of Stained Glass, a wearable technology incubator based in Silicon Valley in the US. The company recently launched the first ever app-directory specifically for users of Google Glass.

LincUpLive, now on for the fourth time, will be held from 9am to 6pm on 24th October at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln. Organiser Glenn Le Santo said: “Redg is one of the most hotly anticipated speakers and the fact that people will have the added bonus of seeing a Google Glass in person for the first time just adds to the appeal.

“If you’ve already got your ticket to Lincoln's premier business event, you’re going to be looking into the future – but if you haven’t bought yours yet, you’re going to be looking online and reading the tweets, thinking to yourself ‘wow, I wish I was there!’.

“People attending will get a head start on making the most of technology and services out there. They will gain insights and knowledge that will put them ahead of their competitors, and learn about things that so many companies aren’t aware of – and probably won’t even hear about until their competitor is already doing it.”

The conference, entitled ‘Tomorrow’s Business: Innovation Growth Regeneration’, will focus on giving tips and advice on how to keep up with, and embrace, new technologies and business practices. Other speakers include Steve Middleborough, Director of Engineering at Siemens, and Wayne Gibbins, an associate at Notion Capital.

The event is sponsored by Lincolnshire County Council’s Select Lincolnshire for Business team and the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce.

People attending so far range from MPs, engineers, SME businesses and students to radio presenters, millionaire business owners and an aspiring paralympian. A small number of tickets are still available.
