Henny Penny Hen Houses will soon have eggshell on the outside as well as the inside thanks to an exclusive partnership with craftsmen in paint and paper, Farrow & Ball.
All of the luxury chicken coops and egg stands in the Henny Penny Hen Houses range, including the new entry-level Chalet, are now available to order in all 132 colours in Farrow & Ball’s Exterior Eggshell paint palette.
Penny Roberts, who set up Henny Penny Hen Houses in October last year, explained: “Farrow & Ball is well known for its exceptional quality paints which have rather quirky and distinctive names such as Elephant’s Breath and Mouse’s Back!

Former telecoms executive Penny Roberts, 47, launched Henny Penny Hen Houses after receiving a badly designed chicken coop as a well-meaning Christmas present. She is passionate about keeping chickens and in particular rescuing ex-battery hens and has her own flock on her farm in Brandsby, North Yorkshire.
Penny’s latest design – The Chalet - is hand-made from same sustainable Scandinavian Redwood shiplap timber and features the same trademark natural thatched roofs and attractive cottage-style windows as all the hen houses in the range. It comes in an easy-to-assemble ‘flat-pack’ form that takes less than 15 minutes to build. It can accommodate up to four large hens and is ideal for small gardens or backyards.
Following the introduction of the Chalet chicken coop, there are now five designs in the Henny Penny Hen House range including The Croft, which can house up to six large hens and the palatial Manor House, which is the largest and can accommodate up to 18 birds.
