News Release

10th June

Henny Penny Hen Houses will soon have eggshell on the outside as well as the inside thanks to an exclusive partnership with craftsmen in paint and paper, Farrow & Ball.

All of the luxury chicken coops and egg stands in the Henny Penny Hen Houses range, including the new entry-level Chalet, are now available to order in all 132 colours in Farrow & Ball’s Exterior Eggshell paint palette.

Penny Roberts, who set up Henny Penny Hen Houses in October last year, explained: “Farrow & Ball is well known for its exceptional quality paints which have rather quirky and distinctive names such as Elephant’s Breath and Mouse’s Back!

“In the same spirit I thought painting our similarly superior quality hen houses in Farrow & Ball’s Exterior Eggshell paint would be a really fun thing to do as there’s a lot of synergy between the two brands – not least in the name! What’s more they offer a wide range of stunning colours so soon people will be able to order a hand-painted Henny Penny Hen House to complement their existing exterior woodwork.”

Farrow & Ball Director Sarah Cole is also delighted to be involved with the project, she said: “Henny Penny Hen Houses combine luxurious hen houses with real expertise in their field, both values that Farrow & Ball share.  Our unmatched paint colours are as durable as they are beautiful making them the perfect choice for Henny Penny Hen Houses.”

Former telecoms executive Penny Roberts, 47, launched Henny Penny Hen Houses after receiving a badly designed chicken coop as a well-meaning Christmas present. She is passionate about keeping chickens and in particular rescuing ex-battery hens and has her own flock on her farm in Brandsby, North Yorkshire.

Penny’s latest design – The Chalet - is hand-made from same sustainable Scandinavian Redwood shiplap timber and features the same trademark natural thatched roofs and attractive cottage-style windows as all the hen houses in the range. It comes in an easy-to-assemble ‘flat-pack’ form that takes less than 15 minutes to build. It can accommodate up to four large hens and is ideal for small gardens or backyards.

Following the introduction of the Chalet chicken coop, there are now five designs in the Henny Penny Hen House range including The Croft, which can house up to six large hens and the palatial Manor House, which is the largest and can accommodate up to 18 birds.

To add to their exclusivity every product in the Henny Penny range has its own unique build number which ensures that customers receive the ultimate in premium quality and the highest levels of customer service.

Similarly Farrow & Ball specialises in attention to detail and exquisite quality and its fastidious approach towards every batch of paint, however large or small, ensures their paints meet their obsessively high requirements.

Farrow & Ball’s Exterior Eggshell is durable and flexible with a high resistance to flaking and peeling. It has good water shedding properties yet allows wood to breathe and can be used on wood and metal surfaces, including doors, window frames, cladding, barge boards, railing and gates, guttering, garden furniture and of course hen houses!

The new hand-painted range will be available to order from www.hennypennyhenhouses.co.uk from 10th June 2013 and, as with all of the products from Henny Penny, comes with a multi-year warranty and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
