Illuminating Job for Lincolnshire Signmakers

A glamorous bar and restaurant at one of Lincolnshire’s top hotels has its name in lights thanks to signmaking and vehicle livery specialists Allen Signs.

The Electric Bar & Restaurant on the top floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton on Lincoln’s waterfront now boasts an illuminated sign showcasing its name on the front of the five-storey building. The hotel’s Brayford Café & Bar on the ground floor of the hotel also has its name in lights, helping to give both venues more prominence, particularly at night.

Work at the hotel, which offers 115 bedrooms and state-of-the-art conferencing facilities, included designing stainless steel letters which were cut out and then painted to match the external window framework.

Internal LED illumination was included to provide a halo effect for the signs. The Electric Bar & Restaurant sign has a contemporary blue halo which has been created by using Electric blue coloured LED’s, while an eye-catching orange light surrounds the Brayford Café & Bar sign.

Allen Signs had previously worked with the hotel on the internal signage and bespoke iPad-style menu holders for The Electric Bar & Restaurant.

Glen Merryweather, Sales and Marketing Executive at Allen Signs based at North Hykeham near Lincoln, said: “Having already worked on various projects for DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln, we were offered the opportunity to create high-impact exterior signage to promote both The Electric Bar & Restaurant and the Brayford Café & Bar.

“We provided a number of options for the client using various materials and LED illumination methods, and having reviewed other venues across the Brayford the management team selected their preferred combination.

“The letters were installed on site individually using extended cables for connection internally. This proved a challenge owing to the nature and accessibility of the fascia, but our team managed to overcome these obstacles by working closely with the client to achieve their objectives.”

Richard Farrar, Director of Brayford Hotels which owns the DoubleTree by Hilton, said: “We knew that we wanted something striking on the front of the venue to really make it stand out and well designed illuminated signs were a great way to do this.

“As we’d worked with Allen Signs before, we approached them to help fulfil that brief. We’re very pleased with how the signs look – they fit in well with the contemporary and aspirational style of our upscale hotel and we’ve had really positive comments from customers.”
