Kick-start Your Day with Business Talk
News release
21st December 2012
Advice on making the most of apprenticeships, setting up YouTube channels and accessing funding will be on offer at an onlincolnshire event in January.
The Lincolnshire County Council-run scheme is putting on a series of two-hour Breakfast Talks for Digital Businesses on the third Thursday of every month at Lincoln Drill Hall, with the first starting at 8.30am on 17th January.
The first talk will feature Nick Wild, Joint Managing Director from 360 Degrees Media Ltd based in London. He will share his experience of developing YouTube channels, as well as media financing and generating more income through the equity in your business.
Businesses will also hear from industry expert Mike Crosby from the National Apprenticeships Service about how they could benefit from apprenticeships by tapping into a skills pool in a way that’s financially beneficial.
The breakfast talks are being funded by the onlincolnshire project, with part-finance from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Stuart McFarlane, Director at CDI Alliance which organises the events on behalf of the onlincolnshire project, said: “Every third Thursday of each month during 2013 we will meet at the Drill Hall Café to discuss hot business topics with invited expert speakers from local, regional and national organisations.
“They will share their in-depth knowledge and experiences, focusing on business issues that will be relevant to most businesses working within the creative and digital sectors. Come along, enjoy the informal discussions and chat with your sector peers over a complimentary coffee and Danish pastry.
“Nick from 360 Degrees Media has a proven track record in delivering innovation into the media sector, with the YouTube channels he developed each getting more than 200,000 views per day and totalling 100 million views each to date.
“Apprenticeships can help businesses across all sectors by offering a route to harness fresh new talent, so the talk on the national scheme is a really good way to learn more about it.”
Subsequent talks will feature invited expert speakers from local, regional and national organisations. They will share their in depth knowledge and experiences, focusing on business issues that will be relevant to those working within the creative and digital sectors.
Similar talks were held in November and included national speakers from the Technology Strategy Board, Design Council and the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
In addition to these seminars there is the option for businesses in Lincoln, Boston and East Lindsey to access up to 12 hours of free one-to-one business support as part of the Digital Business Cluster.
The Cluster offers a range of business support to help Lincolnshire companies realise the benefits that the internet can bring, especially how to access new and free resources. Thirty-eight businesses have already benefited from this support.
Full details about the future talks including topics and names of the speakers will be publicised on the Lincolnshire Digital Cluster LinkedIn group at www.linkedin.com
The first Thursday talk will take place on 17th January at The Drill Hall Café in Lincoln between 8.30am and 10.30am. To make a booking on, visit the events section at www.onlincolnshire.org
