LEP to Launch Growth Plan at Second Business Summit
News release
18th July 2013
The Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership will launch its plan growth at its second annual Business Summit on 8th November.
The free summit at the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln, will give businesses across Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and North-East Lincolnshire the chance to find out how the LEP intends to use its share of £2 billion pot which is due to be handed down from central Government from 2015.
The exact amount given to the LEP will be determined following the submission of its Growth Plan, which is currently being written and which will be unveiled at the summit. The plan is expected to look at areas including infrastructure, business growth, agri-food, visitor economy and manufacturing.
Chair of the Greater Lincolnshire LEP, Ursula Lidbetter MBE, said: “Our summit is a platform for business leaders and politicians to debate the big economic issues that face Greater Lincolnshire. It’s an event all businesses should have in their calendar.
“Following the Government’s announcement to devolve budgets to LEPs, we are preparing to take on more responsibility for shaping our local economy, deciding on the areas we think our share of the funds will be well spent.
“The summit will be an opportunity for businesses to see those details with our Growth Plan, as well as hear from some key Government officials and private sector speakers.”
The LEP is currently holding meetings with businesses across all areas of Greater Lincolnshire to find out what they believe the barriers to growth are, and how the LEP could help support their development.
It is expected that a senior Government minister will speak at the summit, with another speaker from the private sector yet to be confirmed. Around 100 delegates attended last year’s event, with talks from Chair of the National LEP Network, David Frost CBE, DL, and the Market Rasen Big group.
