VIP Launch of Frequency 2011

Friday 21st October, 6pm

Chapter House

Lincoln Cathedral

For nine days (21st to 29th October) the historic city of Lincoln will be transformed into an interactive sensory playground with art from all over the world. The city will be filled of interactive theatre, sculptured light and sound, installations and screenings, including the artificial intelligence of Stelarc’s prosthetic head, Roseline de Thélin’s haunting light beings, the kinetic sculpture of Alex Posada, Luke Jerram’s glass microbiology, Andy McKeown’s lo-fi interactive street projections, the hi-tech circus of Lincoln’s own Jestival and the fairytale world of The Icebook, to name just a few.

We would like to invite you to the VIP launch of Frequency 2011 followed by an organ recital with a difference on Friday 21st October. Spire – Live at Lincoln Cathedral features organist Charles Matthews, tenor John Beaumont, electronica musicians Mike Harding, BJ Nilsen and recent Arts Electronica award-winner Philip Jeck. Spire has performed in many of the historic cathedrals and churches of Europe and this will be the group’s eleventh performance, combining the traditional voice of the cathedral organ with contemporary electronic soundscapes.

Alongside the exhibitions, Frequency is to become a platform for creative industries, freelancers and artists to gather in Lincoln to share knowledge, contribute to the digital debate and explore the future. Please join us on our journey.
