MUMS VOTE FOR LINCOLN’S MIDWIFE OF THE YEAR

The most dedicated midwife in Lincoln and Gainsborough will be honoured in an awards ceremony at Lincoln County Hospital on Friday 4th November.
Winners of the Midwife of the Year Awards, which are organised by the Lincoln Branch of the National Childbirth Trust (NCT), will be presented with their awards in the antenatal clinic at the hospital at 1pm.
Community midwife Linda Parker is the first Gainsborough-based midwife to win the overall Midwife of the year award.
The awards are voted for by parents with the aim of recognising and rewarding the hard work and support midwives give to expectant mothers to help them have a more enjoyable experience.
The competition is sponsored by The Old Station Nursery, which has four settings in Lincoln and one in Gainsborough.
This year’s winners are as follows:
Midwife of the Year 2011
Linda Parker - Community Midwife
For the first time a Gainsborough-based midwife has won the award.
Runner-up
Cheryl Shaw – Community Midwife in the Wragby/Market Rasen area
Commendation
Miriam Hunt – Nettleham area Midwife
Sarah Holdsworth – Labour ward at Lincoln County Hospital
Special Award for Sustained Excellence
Lindsey Thacker – Community Midwife for North Hykeham
Overall winner Linda Parker will receive a hair and beauty treatment from Saks, a £65 Ladybugs Fitness voucher, a £50 voucher from Chantal Shoes, a year’s pass for Doddington Hall Gardens and a framed certificate, trophy and flowers.
The runner-up and commended midwives will also receive an array of prizes.
