Ursula Lidbetter, Chair of the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership, will give a progress report when she addresses the LEP Network annual conference in London next week.

She will tell an audience of senior cabinet ministers, civil servants and representatives from other UK LEPs how Greater Lincolnshire has approached the formation of its LEP and how priorities have been established to ensure resources are used to make the most difference to the conditions for business growth.

She will also provide an update on the Greater Lincolnshire LEP’s successes so far in gaining funds and highlight the partnership approach adopted between the public and private sectors.

“We have already had significant success in securing funding for the area,” said Miss Lidbetter. “The Government has recently approved a £14.3 million plan to bring next-generation broadband to Lincolnshire, and since January our region has secured £9m of funding from the Growing Places Fund to kick start development and boost employment and housing growth.”

Greater Lincolnshire is one of only five LEPs to be given a platform at the LEP Network’s annual conference, which takes place on Thursday 26th April at the Royal Mint Court in London.

The event is an opportunity for LEPs to engage directly with cabinet ministers, share best practice on the issues that matter to them and shape the programme of future network activities to reflect the needs of LEPs themselves.

Ministers speaking at the event will include the Business Secretary Vince Cable, Transport Secretary Justine Greening, Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, and the Business and Innovation Minister Mark Prisk.

The Head of the Home Civil Service, Sir Bob Kerslake, will also give an address and also attending will be Peter Schofield, Director-General of the Department for Communities and Local Government; John Dowie, Director of Local Transport at the Department for Transport; Emma Ward, Director of Economic Development at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills; Simon Perryman, Executive Director of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills; Andrew Field, Head of Policy and Communications at Broadband Delivery UK (Department for Culture, Media and Sport); and David Wallace from UK Trade & Investment.
