News Release

21st January 2013

Three Lincolnshire charities are to receive a late Christmas present at the next meeting of one of Lincoln’s longest running networking groups.

Lincoln Business Club was established in 2004 to encourage networking among local businesses and to raise money for good causes.

Since then the club has donated over £7,000 to charities including the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, KIDS Strut and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

At the club’s next meeting on Friday 25th January, the Nomad Trust and the Stroke Association will both receive a cheque for £250.

Macmillan Cancer Support meanwhile will be presented with £110 which was raised during a coffee morning in September last year.

The event was organised as part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning which is an annual campaign run by Macmillan to help fund the work they do to support the millions of people in the UK living with cancer every year.

Chairman Richard Hare said: “Lincoln Business Club is one of the oldest in Lincoln and has remained true to its original ethos which I think is one of the reasons why it’s so successful.

“Membership is free, it costs just £3 on the door to attend the monthly meetings and any money we do make is donated to charity, so what better reason do you need to join?

“Networking enables you to meet new customers, suppliers and partners and it is an effective way of maintaining and growing your business. The challenging economic climate shows no sign of easing for the foreseeable future so businesses must do all they can to retain existing customers and find new ones.”

The next Lincoln Business Club meeting will take place on Friday 25thJanuary. Guest speaker Jo Wilson from Fill the Gap Marketing will give an educational talk explaining how to prepare an effective marketing campaign. Everyone is welcome to attend.
