A new Bishop Grosseteste University networking club hopes to provide entrepreneurial students with the skills and knowhow to build bridges with local businesses.
BG Networking Club launching next month aims to demonstrate the importance and value of networking to the students, businesses and potential entrepreneurs of Lincoln.
The launch from 4.30pm to 6pm on Thursday 14th November at BG Futures will bring together knowledge-hungry students with members of the wider entrepreneurial community in an effort to encourage start-ups and collaborations.
“The networking club will meet two to three times per year to encourage our undergraduates and some of our more recent graduates to practise their networking skills with employers and local entrepreneurs,” said Eve Stuart, Careers & Employability Manager at BGU.
“For some students, this may be the first time they have tried out networking, so employers have been informed of this and encouragement and support will be on offer from our BG Futures team.”
Guests will be provided with food and drink and after an opening talk from the Vice Chancellor, the Reverend Professor Peter Neil, they will hear from speakers on the importance of making connections in the world of business.
BG Futures, where the club is based, offers a range of support and facilities to businesses from across the local community. They can reap the benefits of low-cost office hire and entrepreneurs can reach out to the centre’s Businesses Development officers who can offer help and advice on how to turn their business ideas into long-term strategies.
