17th September 2013

Sixty guests were in attendance when established networking franchise, The Business Network, launched its first Lincoln group at Jocasta’s last week.

Hosted by Francesca Marritt, the launch event ran smoothly and elicited a positive response from those who attended. Francesca said, “We are absolutely delighted at the response we have already had to the opening of our group.

“People approached me constantly during the launch to remark on how much they were enjoying the unique format that The Business Network excels at. We hope to see even more delegates next month, once word of mouth has taken effect.”

The morning of the launch started with a free seminar - How to Become a More Confident and Effective Networker - by networking expert Will Kintish.

Will explained the principles behind successful networking and how to overcome common pitfalls and fears when networking at business events. He also covered topics such as making a lasting impression and following up with new contacts without seeming pushy.

Following the seminar, guests sat down to a two-course lunch, during and after which they had the chance to put their new skills to the test - with a three-minute slot to pitch their business propositions to other delegates and a networking session until the finish.

The next event will be held on Wednesday 16thOctober and is open exclusively to senior decision-makers from Lincoln businesses. The seminar will be presented by former award-winning BBC journalist Alistair Macdonald and will focus on pitching and presenting skills.

Alistair attended the launch event and said: “The launch of the Business Network Lincoln was a triumph. After 16 years as a Business Network member, I know that Lincoln will be a success.

“Francesca is a superb host with a delightful blend of professionalism and informality which is the hallmark of The Business Network. This event is a must for the Lincoln business community.”

Tickets are priced at £32.95 per person for non-members and £27.95 for members.
