A lettings agency in Lincoln is so busy it has created a new administration job to help handle the growing number of tenants on their books.

The new Account Administrator position will be filled by current receptionist Siobhan Thomas, 25, to cope with the firm’s expanding portfolio. She started with the firm just four months ago. The role will involve managing inventory paperwork for tenants moving in and out of properties, drawing up contracts and ensuring the correct referencing is carried out.

“I heard the job was being created and I asked if I could apply for it,” said Siobhan, from South Carlton, who had previously temped at the firm. “I think because of previous experience they thought ‘why not?’, and they also felt comfortable with the fact that I know everyone and have done some work in those areas previously.

“I enjoy that side of the business a lot more. It’s more varied and for me I like to be given tasks to do and just get on with them. Reception is very more a reactive role, as you are there to handle enquiries and deal with people when they chose to get in touch.

“I’ll have various responsibilities like landlord rent schedules and maintenance assessments. I’m delighted to be given this chance and I’m really looking forward to getting started.”

Siobhan began working at Lighthouse Property Services full time in April after working on a temporary basis at the firm for 18 months. She had been brought in to replace the previous receptionist, Ellie Fuller, who took a different role as a lettings negotiator.

Lighthouse is now also looking for a new full-time receptionist to fill the gap left by Siobhan’s move to the other department.

Lettings Director Simon Sewell, said: “The accounts administrator role was a temporary one, but we were so busy, especially with the student side of the business, that we decided to make it full time and permanent.

“As the student lettings business is so seasonal we are busier at certain times of the year than others, which is when we may have brought in extra help previously. But we’ve now got to the point that we’re so busy year-round that we need as extra pair of hands on deck to ensure everything ticks along smoothly. Siobhan has proved herself to us so we were delighted to give her this opportunity.

“Siobhan will still be backed up by our accounts team so we can ensure customers will continue to receive excellent service. We now boast 15 full-time employees to enable us to service what is a hugely buoyant market at present and this figure will soon be increasing to 16 when we recruit a new receptionist.”

The closing date for the receptionist job is 22nd August. Applicants must send their CV along with a covering letter to Lighthouse Property Services Ltd, 39a Carholme Road, Lincoln, LN1 1RN. Alternatively, you can email your application to simon.sewell@lighthouse-properties.co.uk.
