NEW MANAGER TO TAKE MINI TO THE MASSES

Bosses at Astle MINI are so confident about their cars they have created a new role specifically aimed at giving businesses a chance to experience them.
Joe Hall, 53, has been taken on by the Grimsby dealership as the Local Business Development Manager for MINI – the first job of its kind at Astle MINI.
The idea is to promote the classic British motoring staple as an alternative company car for firms which might otherwise opt for other brands. Joe will split his time between the Astle dealerships on Grimsby Road, Laceby and Old Crosby in Scunthorpe.
“It’s a new role which has been inspired by the BMW side of the business which has a dedicated Business Development Manager,” said Joe, who joined the company three weeks ago.
“We want to get MINI into local businesses as a company car as an alternative to what you always see. One of the most popular aspects of a MINI is that it has a lot of character and is an iconic British vehicle in its own right.
“But what a lot of people don’t realise are the financial benefits of having MINIs as your vehicle fleet, whether you require just a few cars or a large number. MINIs retain their residual value and they are very economical, leading the way to good tax benefits in kind.
“And because the cars we offer are new models, there would also be no MOT to pay for three years, further cutting the amount you have to spend.
“If you have a company car that is high in emissions and a more expensive model, you pay more tax on that vehicle, both in terms of road tax and personal tax in your pay cheque. But MINIs are very economical, meaning they have low emissions so you’ll pay substantially less in both areas.
“Even if you see a lot of MINIs about, they are still exclusive because of the sheer volume of extras available to personalise them.”
There are a number of options for companies to take up, including contract hire where Astle will provide the car tax, maintenance, insurance and roadside assistance, or personal contract plans and lease hire.
