Optimism was in the air when commercial property agents and developers gathered at the new DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln hotel on Thursday (23rd February) to hear about plans to improve Lincolnshire’s infrastructure and create jobs.

Invest Lincolnshire, the economic development arm of Lincolnshire County Council, hosted the networking event to promote Lincolnshire as a county to invest in.

It brought together key agents and those looking to develop businesses in Lincolnshire and gave them an opportunity to meet the new Business Investment Team at Invest Lincolnshire.

Three guest speakers covered the county’s three key sectors: agri-food, tourism and engineering. Simon Martin from QV Foods, Richard Farrar from Brayford Hotels and Neil Corner from Siemens all took the opportunity to explain why their businesses have invested in Lincolnshire and to tell delegates why the county is a great place to do business.

The speakers were introduced by Jenny Gammon, Assistant Director for Economy and Culture at Lincolnshire County Council, who gave an overview of developments in the pipeline.

These included the development of Teal Park (a new 87-acre business park near Lincoln), the Lincoln eastern bypass, relocation of the Magna Carta within Lincoln Castle, the Lincoln east-west link road and improvements in county broadband coverage.

Tim Shaw, a partner at commercial property agents Hodgson Elkington, thoroughly enjoyed the event.

“It was very useful,” he said. “The presentation from the county council gave a good positive message and highlighted the fact that there is activity and development happening in Lincoln – it is a good place to do business. There was a strong delegate list so it was a good networking opportunity too.

“Hodgson Elkington has been heavily involved in the Teal Park site on behalf of clients Taylor Lindsey. It’s really positive to see this and the east-west link road finally coming to fruition.”
