News release

28th November 2013

Lincoln-based PR agency Shooting Star PR is looking for a charity to become its Charity of the Year for 2014.

Every year the agency provides free advice and expertise to a different local charity or not-for-profit organisation which they may otherwise not be able to afford.

Shooting Star PR wants to hear from charities that could benefit from PR services including news releases, social media, feature writing, crisis management and media monitoring.

The Ally Cadence Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (ACT for SMA), a charity dedicated to helping families and people affected by the devastating condition, was selected for this unique opportunity during 2013.

Emma Humphries, founder of the charity said: “Thanks to the support of Shooting Star PR we have been able to raise awareness of the genetic disease that is currently incurable. Their friendly team identified new fundraising ideas for us, as well as promoting the work we do to help affected families.

“Our annual ball was a fantastic success and we simply can’t thank them enough for their support during 2013, it has been invaluable.”

In previous years Shooting Star PR has provided PR services on a pro bono basis to the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, Strut in the Community, Lincoln Women’s Aid and Candles.

Kate Strawson, Director of Shooting Star PR, said: “Charities make a real difference to people’s lives and we are keen to help them promote the services that they offer which they could not afford to do without our help.

“Last year we chose the ACT for SMA to be our Charity of the Year as we wanted to support a small organisation that would really benefit from the services we can offer. Emma and Karl were the perfect choice: their commitment to helping other families who experience Spinal Muscular Atrophy was outstanding and we were privileged to work alongside them during 2013.

“This year we’d like to help a similar charity or organisation to raise their profile and encourage more people to donate money or become a volunteer as a result.”

If you would like to nominate your charity send an email to hello@shootingstar-pr.co.uk explaining why you think your charity would benefit from a year’s free PR.
