Organisers of this year’s Property and Business Investment Show have hailed the event a success.

Hundreds of people visited the third annual show at the EPIC Centre at the Lincolnshire Showground to hear seminars on the local economy and to talk to exhibitors.

Speakers included Terry Mankertz from the foreign direct investment hub at UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and Alastair Cunningham, the East Midlands Agent for the Bank of England, along with Jenny Gammon, Assistant Director of Economy and Culture at Lincolnshire County Council, and Ursula Lidbetter, Chairman of the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Her talk was well attended by people wanting to find out more about the Greater Lincolnshire LEP and what it does, while a financial seminar led by Streets Accountants also proved a popular draw.

Show organiser Martin Freeman said: “I heard very positive things from exhibitors and those visiting the event. It’s shown that Lincolnshire is definitely a place where people are interested in doing business and that the local economy is bucking the national trend and securing itself a positive future.

“We’ve had a busy day and I believe a lot of that was down to the media for getting word about this event out there, so huge thanks must go to them.”

Exhibitors said they were happy with the way things had gone. John Lingard, Head of Lincoln Office at Interserve Construction, said: “This is the third year in a row that we’ve had a stand here and it’s always really helpful for finding out what’s going on in Lincolnshire. There is always something new that we get told about that we then go and follow up on.”

Peter Horner, Real Estate Partner at the solicitors Langleys, added: “This show is a great opportunity to meet a lot of people that we know and some that we don’t. It’s an event that we feel is well worthwhile for Langleys to attend. It’s not necessarily about gaining new business, but meeting people. If we didn’t attend, our absence would be felt from the wider community.”

The event was sponsored by Invest Lincolnshire, the investment arm of Lincolnshire County Council.

Jill McCarthy, Business Investment Manager at the authority, commented: “The show gave people an insight into the benefits of doing business in Lincolnshire. Everyone was interacting, finding out what other firms do and if they might work together somehow. Our speakers were particularly well received, with some very honest and insightful comments on the economy and working in Lincolnshire.”

Invest Lincolnshire will also be exhibiting at the East Midlands Property & Business Investment Show at the East Midlands Conference Centre Nottingham on Friday 9th November 2012.
