Lincoln’s first Quiz, Chips and Mushy Peas night raised over £650 for Shooting Star PR’s Charity of the Year 2013.

Last night the award-winning Burton Road Chippy hosted the event for the PR agency’s 2013 chosen charity, the Ally Cadence Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (ACT for SMA).

Every year Shooting Star PR offers its services free to a charity that may otherwise not be able to afford them.

ACT for SMA, founded in 2009, offers help and support to families living with the effects of Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a rare genetic muscle wasting disorder that affects around 1 in 6,500 children.

The evening offered a carefully crafted quiz of one-hit wonders and former prime ministers, amazing prizes and a delicious meal of haddock, chips, mushy peas and bread and butter.

“We were delighted that the event was a sell out and raised £667 for the Ally Cadence Trust,” said Jez Ashberry, Director of Shooting Star PR.

“Thank you to everyone who came along to support this worthwhile cause and to the team at Burton Road Chippy who hosted the evening and put on a fantastic meal for everyone. The quiz was so successful that we are planning to make it an annual event.”

Fifteen teams of four entered the quiz and the winners were Nick Whyatt, Gary Nugent, Maria Karaolides and Karolina Szynalska.

Their prize was a case of 12 bottles of wine donated by Tim Downing of Pygott & Crone.
