A service advisor who deals solely with motorcycles has been taken on at Astle BMW Motorrad in Grimsby.

Terry Skelton joined the Grimsby dealership last week after Astle decided to create the role so riders in need of a service or MOT had a dedicated advisor to deal with. The idea is to give customers one main point of contact when they need routine or additional work carrying out so that they will feel confident their prized machine is taken care of.

The role previously existed but had been merged with the BMW car service team just before Christmas last year when the then Service Advisor Richard Harvey retired. Following feedback from customers, the dealership has decided to reinstate the position.

“I’ve been a biker since I was 16-years-old so this is my dream job,” said Terry, 44, who has worked in the motor trade industry for more than two decades including roles at other car manufacturers at Grimsby and Louth.

“I’ve wanted to work here for a number of years but there hasn’t been the right position until now – I’m thrilled to finally be here. There has been a lot of demand for a dedicated Motorrad Service Advisor because people want to know they’re having their specific needs dealt with and also that they have one person who is responsible for looking after them.”

The Motorrad department also welcomed new Manager Nick Sellers in the past month. Nick started work at the dealership as a sales executive in June and was asked to step into the managerial role when previous Manager Tony Heys moved on.

“I’ve always been a biker myself and I’ve managed to turn a hobby into a career,” said Nick, who had previously worked at the Laceby Road dealership for five years and also spent eight years as a sales manager at another car firm in Hessle.

“I love BMWs because of the top-quality build and design. Terry has been doing very well and I’m sure this will prove to be a very positive move for Astle.”

The Astle BMW Motoradd team is now made up of two technicians, a service advisor and one sales executive. Another sales executive is due to be recruited in the next few weeks.
