Age UK Lincoln has become the latest charity to appoint Shooting Star PR to handle its PR and communications.

The Lincoln-based agency will work with the charity’s marketing and fund-raising team to raise the profile of Age UK Lincoln and support a major fund-raising campaign.

Age UK Lincoln is the fifth new client and the second charity to engage Shooting Star PR since the start of the year. In January the agency was hired by Jerry Green Dog Rescue after a competitive pitch.

“We have chosen to work in partnership with Shooting PR to achieve several outcomes, which include raising our public profile and increasing awareness about the great work we do to support older people,” said Georgina Garrett, Fundraising and Marketing Manager at Age UK Lincoln.

“We also want to generate interest in the redevelopment of our Park Street Activity Centre and promote fundraising and corporate sponsorship opportunities to help Age UK Lincoln stay sustainable.

“We feel that Shooting PR have the experience, skills and knowledge to help drive us forward and achieve our expectations.”

Age UK Lincoln has been operating in the city for almost 55 years. Formerly known as Age Concern Lincoln, it became Age UK Lincoln in 2010 after the merger of the national charities Age Concern and Help the Aged.

Its aim is to enable older people to lead full and active lives and stay safe and independent within their homes. The charity’s activity centre on Park Street in Lincoln is free to attend for people over 50 and offers activities such as language and art classes, dancing, computer skills and friendship clubs.

Cesca Bickley, an Account Manager at Shooting Star PR, said: “We were delighted to be asked to work with Age UK Lincoln and I’m really looking forward to helping them to promote the fantastic work they do for older people in the county.

“We have a strong track record of success in the third sector and for the past five years we have also offered our PR services free of charge to a deserving local charity.”

Shooting Star PR has now worked for well over 100 clients since it was launched in 2006 by directors Kate Strawson and Jez Ashberry. Current clients include DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln, Beatson Clark, Bishop Grosseteste University, onlincolnshire, Cool Milk, Duncan & Toplis and the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
