A former student bar is set to become a baby room as part of a Lincoln nursery’s expansion.

The former Library Bar on the University of Lincoln’s Brayford campus is to become part of The Old Station Nursery at Lincoln Marina.

The former student venue was bought by the university last year and its conversion by the nursery will provide more space and a dedicated outdoor area once renovations are complete.

The Old Station Nursery has consulted Mary Barlow, an early years specialist from The Totem Pole in Grantham, about plans for the interior.

Sarah Steel, Managing Director of The Old Station Nursery Group, said: “We’re delighted to have all this extra space for the Marina nursery.

“It was a great find by our manager Kellie Loughlin. Not only will the babies and the staff have much more room but the other children will be able to spread out as well.

“The new baby room will be really cosy and a fantastic space that we hope the parents, staff and most importantly the children will be happy with. We can’t wait to see how it looks when it’s finished!”

As an added bonus plans also include the conversion of a back room in the building into a secure buggy store for parents who need to leave buggies behind.

It’s hoped that work on the building will be finished sometime in August, when the babies and staff will be able to move in.

The Marina nursery was recently awarded an overall rating of ‘good’ by Ofsted in its latest inspection report. To see the report visit the Inspection Reports section of the Ofsted website http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/.
