Lincoln, UK – 7th March 2012 – Over 500 people, including TV presenter Gethin Jones, walked up the red carpet outside the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln to celebrate the official opening of the city’s newest bar and restaurant on Friday (2nd March).

The Electric Bar & Restaurant, on the top floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln, turned on the glamour for the launch party with fast cars, fire performers and a red carpet complete with paparazzi-style photographers.

Upon arrival guests were greeted with a champagne reception and a grand piano played Adam Ponde before being whisked up to The Electric Bar & Restaurant on the fifth floor via the hotel’s panoramic glass lift.

As well as a saxophonist, highlights of the evening included Moulin Rouge-style performances by Parisian dancing girls as well as a show by a professional cocktail flarer.

Guests were also treated to delicious dishes including black truffle risotto and spicy lamb tagine created by Head Chef Alec Maxfield, who has worked at some of the country’s finest restaurants including Hambleton Hall in Rutland and The Fat Duck in Bray.

Head Barman Andy Hallam also created a stir behind the bar with his contemporary and eclectic cocktail, wine and beer menus which have helped to establish The Electric Bar as one of the city’s premier night spots.

The new bar and restaurant, which has panoramic views of the south of the city as well as Lincoln Cathedral, opened its doors for the first time on 31st December 2011.

Restaurant Manager Dan Ralley said: “The Electric Bar & Restaurant is stylish and sophisticated venue and the launch was our chance to officially welcome people and show them what we can do.

“We were overwhelmed by the number of people who accepted our invitation to the event – The Electric Bar & Restaurant, the hotel lobby and the events and conferencing bar area were full of people and we received some fantastic feedback on Twitter and Facebook.

“Everyone I’ve spoken to has told me what a wonderful time they had and that they’d never been to an event like it in Lincoln before – the atmosphere really was electric!

“And that has been our main aim all along; we wanted to offer something extraordinary and raise the bar in terms of the quality of food and drink in the city and I think we’ve achieved that, even the ride up here in the panoramic glass elevator is something special!”

Comments on Twitter and Facebook included an update by freelance journalist Glenn Le Santo who tweeted: “Had an absolutely brilliant night at The Electric Bar & Restaurant launch party last night. Lincoln rocks.”

Events and Marketing Officer Amy Allen also tweeted: “Fully amazing night at the VIP launch of The Electric Bar & Restaurant last night - great food, drinks and service. Many thanks to those who made it happen.”
