News release

17th July

Lincolnshire firms can learn how to turn ideas ranging from apps to household gadgets into a commercial product at a talk from an organisation which deals in innovation.

The last in a series of seminars on digital technology, the talk on Wednesday 25th July will include a presentation by ANGLE, the organisation which delivers the Innovation Advice and Guidance (IAG) programme as part of Innovation Lincolnshire.

The event is being put on through the Lincolnshire Digital Business Cluster which was launched as part of Online Revolution, a campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of superfast broadband.

Tim Staniland from ANGLE said the seminar at Think Tank in Lincoln will help businesses understand the kind of questions they need to ask themselves before they develop new products such as apps or new service ideas.

Tim commented: “Whether you’re developing a digital app or the latest household gadget, the process of commercialising your idea is much the same and hugely dependent on knowing and accessing the right market for your innovation.

“It’s about identifying the challenges you might face to take your idea to market and sourcing the right expertise and resources to overcome these. This is often what makes the difference between a great idea and a commercial success and something which doesn’t take off.”

Tim will also be on hand to discuss how the Innovation Advice and Guidance programme can support eligible businesses to assess the commercial viability of their own product or service ideas.

As well as running the seminars, the Digital Business Cluster project offers small companies which sell digital products and services in Lincoln, East Lindsey and Boston access to up to 12 hours of free business support. The aim is to help businesses in the county be more successful, raise their profile and get the most out of technologies available.

Online Revolution is managed by Lincolnshire County Council and funded by the East Midlands European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It aims to raise awareness of the benefits of superfast broadband and stimulate demand for the service in the project’s three target areas: Lincoln, Boston and East Lindsey.
