TV Star to Join BG Graduation

A well known TV historian is to receive an honorary degree from Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln next month.

Ruth Goodman, who has presented several highly successful television series including The Victorian Pharmacy, Tales from the Green Valley and The Victorian Farm, will be honoured at the first of three graduation ceremonies at Lincoln Cathedral on Wednesday 18thJuly.

A social and domestic TV historian working with museums, theatre, television and educational establishments, Ruth has also presented a variety of films for The One Show and Coast and her book The Victorian Farm went to number one in The Sunday Times’ best seller list.

More than 700 BG students will be graduating at three ceremonies which take place at 10.15am, 2.30pm and 7.15pm on Wednesday 18thJuly.

Keith Bartley, the former Chief Executive of the General Teaching Council who currently lives and works in South Australia, and Professor Iram Siraj-Blatchford, Professor of Education at the Institute of Education, University of London, will receive honorary degrees at the afternoon (2.30pm) and evening (7.15pm) ceremonies respectively.

Professor Muriel Robinson, Principal of Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln, commented: “We are absolutely delighted that such experts in their fields have agreed to join us for our graduation ceremonies, and their presence will make the day even more memorable.

“I look forward to celebrating this special moment with all the students graduating next month.”

The graduation ceremonies will form part of the celebrations taking place throughout this academic year in honour of BG’s 150thanniversary.
