Waldeck Appointed on £4m Lincoln College Extension

Multi-disciplinary consulting engineers Waldeck have been appointed to work on Lincoln College’s £4 million redevelopment programme to improve their existing facilities at the Monks Road Campus.

The development will comprise the refurbishment, alteration and extension of the Monks Building and include the construction of a fully glazed, double height atrium which will be used as a new student entrance and a new Learning Resource Centre on the extended second floor.

There will also be new student recreational facilities, offices and meeting space on the existing first floor as well as redeveloped communal areas on the land at the front of the building which adjoins Monks Road.

Waldeck’s Engineering Manager Andrew Foottit said: “As part of the project we’re undertaking an assessment of the current buildings to determine suitability for conversion and providing the new structural design works for the steel-framed extension and atrium.

“Waldeck have a lot of experience in the education sector, having previously completed projects for Huntingtower Community Primary Academy, North Lindsey College, The Deepings School and Bishop Burton College.

“We first started working for Lincoln College in March 2012 and we’re pleased to be continuing our relationship with them.”

Construction work is due to start on site in September and should be completed for the start of term in September 2014.

In addition to this development Waldeck are also working on a project for Lincoln College in Newark to remodel the former police station and magistrates’ court on Appleton Gate which once complete will be home to the college’s piano school.
