News Release

19th April 2011

An engineering firm which opened a new branch in Sheffield last year has relocated to bigger premises on Furnival Road following a recent recruitment drive.

Waldeck has employed Senior Project Engineer Simon Payne and Senior Technician Jeoff Newham and expects the move to Quayside House will help to create more jobs over the next 12 months.

Sheffield City Councillor Tony Damms officially opened Waldeck’s new office on Thursday (14th April) and said it’s great to see a business growing, especially in the current economic climate.

“I was delighted to be invited to celebrate the official opening of Waldeck’s  new office - I’m always happy when a business locates in the city and I’m particularly pleased when it’s a business with a track record like Waldeck’s.

“I think the company’s expansion is proof of the fact that Sheffield’s local economy is growing and that the city is worth investing in. It’s reassuring that companies like Waldeck want to come to our city and see Sheffield as part of their future.”

Waldeck is one of the fastest growing consulting engineering firms in the UK and is working on some major projects including a multi-million pound scheme to restore Blackfriars railway bridge in London and a £210 million Ocado distribution centre in Dordon, North Warwickshire.

Managing Director Paul Waldeck said their success stems from the company’s culture of creativity and lateral thinking.

“There is a fundamental need to drive value into everything we do as construction professionals,” said Paul. Our approach is focused on taking what is often a very good traditional solution and then challenging the norm to derive potential opportunities to save our clients time and money.”

The relocation of the Sheffield office follows the launch of a Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Department based at the company’s headquarters in Sleaford, Lincolnshire and is part of the company’s long-term strategy for growth.

Paul explained: “Since opening the Sheffield office we’ve received a lot of interest from businesses in the South Yorkshire region and we’re keen to build on the success we’ve enjoyed so far.

“Moving into larger premises and recruiting new members to the team will enable us to increase our capacity so we can continue to grow and support the local economy by creating more jobs for the people of Sheffield.”
